Simply due to the amount of hardware and software combinations out there, someone will have an issue somewhere with something. Not sure if this is a problem with the AMD patches or even with the 1.40 patch that is standard on the Steam version. It's definitely either a missing or misplaced texture. Have to admit that I still ended up with the "replace me" red textures on the cliff sides once I got to the region known as "The Pier", the region where you find the first hang glider.
